For most, this is a chance and a temptation every day. And because of this there are dirty cops. But I have the confidence in our LEOS that the largest part of the men and women in blue are honest, of highest integrity, and want only to fulfill their jobs to the best of their ability. Lane, Lorraine, Victor, Len, Melinda, Chief Coker, Ellen Coker, William and Sharon, and Chief Amanda Williams were all officers of this high standard of integrity and honesty. The Sentence Series has included both honest and dishonest cops, FBI agents, CIA agents, G4S, KGB within its pages. And there's no doubt about it; in the end, they always pay the heavy price of recompense in one form or another according the path they chose. Although Chief of Police Clemens of La Dago had a reputation of being dirty, he did have a profound respect for cops who were not. The camera system located in the defunct Pep Boys Warehouse in Monterey was traced back to him via the serial numbers on the cameras Lane was able to procure. Clemens knew nothing of this. That is, until he was summoned to court and faced with it. In the video of that night, was the undeniable proof of the honesty and integrity of William Travis. When the video was presented it cleared William of all wrong doing. The odd part of the accusation is from whom it eschewed. The Chief of Police of Monterey was studying pictures of the scenes prior to the corpses being removed and saw how the man named Danny was trussed up, and, how he was beat up. Out of righteous indignation, he pressed charges against William. But Victor saw through the reason for the charges and confronted the Chief with them. The Chief eventually backed down. Evene so, it was only after he gave a dressing down to Victor: "The next time you come into my town I hope you have the professional courtesy to allow us to do our job. We don't need ill-trained home boys coming into our territory in the attempts of showing us how the job is done." Lawmen have always been territorial, and will continue to do so. At least this Chief of Police had the integrity to back off another honest cop and let matters be. To save face he issued the abdication with the stern warning. Another thing that was in Williams' favor was his being an FBI agent. That one fact alone was enough to knock down the territorial charges. There's no doubt that this was this Chiefs way of making a formal protest and warning for others who would come into their city. Being the discs and the weapons hanging the balance, William would have gone anywhere, and would do it again. But the peace of knowing they were destroyed was worth the risks. ![]() | |
