Chapter IX

t worried William that someone was still out to kill him.  What he possibly had to offer at this point in his life certainly did not seem to him as something he was willing to die for, or worse, something he was willing to let his bride be killed for.

The thought rankled, and although a month later, he was up and about, he was still too weak to work.

Sharon had not shared the reason with him about his going back to the house.  The house had been torn down, and the property had been completely dug out to a depth of about three stories.

Only one room had been found and within it was a collection of many electronic machines, mostly of a hypnotic type.

William had seen a room full of electronic equipment, but it turned out to be quite a communications center.  On the walls were maps and on the maps were colored pins indicating something at these locations.

He had seen the location of Stillwell Creek and a pin there.  He had wondered just what that was.

Had it been on the wall of some other place, it would have held no curiosity for William.  But since it was in an underground bunker, his curiosity had been aroused a great extent.  But, he couldn't remember it.  How he'd been guided there to begin with was still a mystery, and he meant to find out the details of it.

While he had been the subject of many experiments, he had also undergone many "fixes."  It was now apparent these fixes were of little value, and he had no idea as to their absolute success.  Obviously, even these fixes were suspect.

What he needed was an overhaul!  He needed a checkup from the neckup!  He needed repair from the divine, not a divide.

But where could he turn?  In the past, the only place he could go was to the Lord.  He turned his truck around and headed for the church!
