![]() About Auth | |
Yep! I know all about outhouses, and cottonstalk-tea, and corn-cob fights, and BB-gun fights, snakes and yellow jackets, bumble-bees and ghosts. ![]() Yep! Arkansas has some pretty weird names for towns . . . (don't have cities much . . . ). Like Weiner, Piggot, Possum Grape, Monkey Run, Gasville, Yellville, Ralph and of course TWO Midways . . . to name a few . . . But I don't know that they are any more weird than any other state! The accent is real. The talk about good times, and hard times . . . all real. So are all my "Little Boy In Arkansas" stories. I've changed the names to lesson the chances of genuine embarrassment (ever wonder how that word came to be? For a real eye opener, break the word apart and study its syllables . . . ), and the humiliation of some of the incidents spoken of there. Someone once asked what nationality my last name was, and I answered "full blood Hillbilly!" But I'd better quit rambling if I'm gonna finish this introduction of myself to ya! What's up with the "Sir George" and all the armour? And all that scary stuff!! Is all that necessary? Well, the armour's just a hold-over from my childhood days of rescuing fair maidens in distress, and, it looks kinda good too! (I'm sure some of my childhood school-teachers would love that vernacular huh! There's no doubt I've dangled a participle here and there. I'm certainly guilty of run on sentence structure, and of course, I'm prone to use the improper vernacular of "ain't . . ." but, I'm just being me. I write like I think and live. I love to write, and just be my own self! I have no choice in growing older . . . but: I refuse to grow up! 'Sides that, all my grandchildren like me like that! (all un-grownup and unsophisticated and ever'thing . . . (grin)) And yeah, the scary stuff goes along with theme of this book, so it just kind of dresses it up. Only recently have I began recording (via writ) the "Little Boy In Arkansas" stories for posterity sake. (Purty big word for an 'ol hillbilly like me!) Could be my children or grandchildren might be interested in reading them someday. After much coaxing of my wife of 45+ years and my kids (those are children by the way), did I finally begin. ![]() Who in the world would want to read these stories is beyond me. Hopefully, they will liven up somebody's day a little. If nothing else, perhaps they will find Death Vengeance interesting. It kinda goes together with some of my inventions. This is hardly an Autobiography. More like just an abbreviated intro. But I am serious about writing a few books which have been floating around in "the shadowy confines of my mind. As well, I'm serious about writing many of my short stories off all the wonderful memories as a child growing up in the great state of Arkansas. I also have numerous other articles and publications that are not in print at this time. Whether they ever come to print or not depends on my success in generating interest in my work. As you may well know, new authors do have due process in which to wallow prior to enjoying much in the way of success. With my renewed interest in writing, I've begun the process of bringing several other projects into view of public scrutiny. Currently, the only ones I have posted on the net are the short stories by the name of Little Boy In Arkansas Stories. Hopefully, I'll have other works, including my repertoire of poetry up for your perusal. Death Sentence is a work in progress and it might undergo a change of genre. I'm actually on the fence with this work, whether to change the genre or not. This is now a much later time and I've decided to change the genre. I might do a short narrative on my decision, to which I will put a link here. But you can read the newest story in this chain by clicking here. The name of the newest story has been set as Life Sentence. I feel it will be an end of the series, but, will be a fitting end! . . . (grin) The list of characters used in Death Sentence are some of the ones used in my first work in this series, a book by the name of Death Vengeance,. The next book in this series is called Life Sentence. Go There! Enjoy . . . ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
